Hello strangers!

I’m Zizi Li, and I am a teacher, scholar, writer, and artist. Teaching, learning, creative practice, and public scholarship are all important parts of how I move through the world.

I teach film and media studies in the Department of Cinematic Arts at California State University, Long Beach, where I learn, experiment, and grow alongside my students.

As an independent scholar with a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles, I research and write about media cultures, film and the internet, technology, labor, materiality, and space.

Beyond my academic work, I am returning to writing and art-making, while cultivating collective spaces as ways of thinking, being, and relating in the world.

This site is a home for these different parts of my practice, including the ones still taking shape.
