look again #1: green onions

Note: I am in the process of archiving my writings disperced across social media platforms on my own website here. This is a mirror post of “looking again #1: green onions“ on my Substack page (cringe) processing.

today, I present you with a little poem.

scallions

by zizi li

was I like one of those

green onions

on the kitchen counter

forever growing back

even if cut into pieces

providing them

with more of me

as long as

i wasn't thrown away

as long as

i was provided with

the tiniest bit of water

was it resilience

or pure stupidity

of not knowing

i deserved

much better
